There's No Place Like Home...? - Jenn

That was going to be my sentiment for Tuesday's game. A classic line from a classic movie that worked very well for Tuesday's 5-0 shutout.

Unfortunately I've been sick and didn't have the energy to blog. But I figured with a score like that on Tuesday, the title would work just as well for both games. I was wrong. Like Dad said in a previous post, "what a difference a day makes". He used it for a positive. I'm using it as a negative. We lost yesterday. Badly.

Again the bullpen and the Sox inability to turn hits into runs were the reason.

So, my "no place like home" reference doesn't have the zing it did a day ago. But it's still good to be back at the Fens, see all that red in the stands, and hear "Sweet Caroline" in the 8th.

On another note, Lowell left the game yesterday after the first inning when he rolled his left wrist in a phenomenal catch. Seeing Casey come to bat in the 2nd instead of Lowell was disconcerting to say the least. But a sigh of relief was uttered when I heard that the X-rays were negative and he just has a sprained thumb meaning he's day to day. Now a sprained thumb may not seem like a big deal, but it's Lowell's bottom hand on the bat which means there's a lot of pressure on the thumb when he swings. So a sprained thumb could keep Lowell out for a few games, but better his thumb be fully healed than try to come back too soon. Casey did a great job at first, and as we've seen before, Youkilis did a fine job filling in at 3rd.
